Main Research Topics

Our research focuses on the study and development of complex fluids and soft materials, emphasizing ion gels, gel polymer electrolytes, and cellulose-based nanomaterials. We also explore liquid crystalline cellulose and other liquid crystal-based soft systems, as well as ionic liquids, poly(ionic liquids), and related self-assembling macromolecular systems.

Our work encompasses a wide range of complex materials, including soft matter, colloids, hard porous systems (such as rocks, sands, and composites), biological tissues, and even living organisms. We investigate these materials for both their fundamental scientific interest and their potential applications in advanced fields, primarily in energy and biomedical applications.

To study the molecular structure, dynamics, and flow behavior of these systems, we utilize various advanced NMR methodologies. These include solid-state NMR, diffusion NMR, magnetic resonance micro-imaging, and rheo-NMR, which collectively provide complementary insights across different length and timescales. Our research bridges fundamental understanding with materials design, leading to applications in colloids, biomaterials, and soft matter systems with tailored structural and dynamic properties.
