Our Mission

The main mission of the Portuguese Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Network is to provide a coordinated access to a national platform of equipment, resources, services and skills in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) for the use of the participating institutions and for the scientific community, from the national and international R&D system from industry and academia. The main goal is the maintenance of a single platform that promotes the technical integration, the sharing of resources and the combined management of the NMR infrastructure, enabling access to modern and fully operational NMR spectrometers and support of R&D initiatives.

Participation in International Research Infrastructures:

PTNMR anchors Portugal’s integration in Europe’s leading NMR and structural-biology research infrastructures. Through the national network, Portuguese researchers connect to Instruct-ERIC via the Portuguese Research Site (Instruct-PT) at FCUL and NOVA-gaining access to advanced technologies, expert training, and transnational services in structural biology. In solid-state NMR, Portugal also participates in PANACEA NMR, a pan-European access programme that opens state-of-the-art instrumentation and know-how across a consortium that includes the University of Aveiro, widening opportunities for academia and industry. Together, these links ensure open, competitive access, training, and collaboration at the highest international standard.

The NMR spectrometers are part of the National NMR Network (PTNMR) and are partially supported by Infrastructure Project Nº 022161 (co-financed by FEDER through COMPETE 2020, POCI and PORL and FCT through PIDDAC).
